Saying this as an Apple Maps fan; allowing default apps should be allowed everywhere. Not all map apps are equal everywhere. Such as when Apple Maps 1st came out, it was fine in major cities, but horrid anywhere else. Same goes for weather & search engines. Let people use what is ideal for them.

Should only allow default apps once vetted, otherwise iOS will be a hot unsecure mess like Android.

I'd agree if iOS were new. It is 18 years old. Apple should be more open for some of the basic apps, such as weather, maps, & search engine. Again, those 3 things will vary on location on usefulness. I'm not asking them for various system altering features, such as font changing, themes, etc.

I agree. Personally I love Safari and Apple Maps, but some people in my household prefer Chrome, not sure if anyone else here likes other GPS systems or not, but everyone should get a choice as a default system.

With iOS, Safari is the only real web browser. You do have Chrome, Firefox, etc., but those are all just skins built on top of the Safari webkit.
