Been tinkering with schemas for sharing language data over ATProto (the technology that underlies bluesky). Trying to support everything from acceptability and inference judgments to interlinear glossing to syntactic parses to eye and neural recordings. Discussion and comments appreciated. 🐦️🐦️

Layers is a set of ATProto lexicons for representing and interlinking linguistic data across modalities. We're hoping to get feedback on a draft proposal for the lexicons. docs.layers.pub github.com/layers-pub/layers

I don’t collect eye movement data anymore (and when I did, it was infant preferential looking data, not reading), so I’m unfortunately not super up on current tech, especially when fine-grained time course and localization of the gaze target is required.

Ok this is pretty cool, the annotations piece resonates with me and I like the approach to interoperability. I bet my colleague @alex.bsky.team — an actual linguist! — will be even more interested. Please let us know if we can help with anything as you continue to progress!

Oh this is super cool, I was just joking the other week about the rich text schemas that we were going to end up accidentally reinventing XML but I can see this being really usable in research contexts

this + private data you could make a federated MTurk with an automatic user base of potential users and good data access controls baked in and run by universities not corps would be interesting to apply labelers for filtering users for tasks (maybe could "verify" users, ex: native English speaker).
