The lawsuit challenges new policies from US Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) that fundamentally alter the process known as “adjustment of status,” which Congress created to allow eligible immigrants already in the US to apply for permanent residence without leaving their communities. 2/

The policies change the rules for people who have followed the legal process to seek permanent residence & put them at risk of losing their ability to live & work in the United States, being separated from their families, & having their careers & education disrupted. 3/

The AAUP & our co-plaintiffs, Harvard & Boston U AAUP chapters, @seiu.org, @32bjseiu.bsky.social, & Americans 4 Immigrant Justice, are asking the court to block these policies & require USCIS to adjudicate affected green card applications consistent with controlling precedent. 4/
