Miss Major has been fighting for transgender rights for decades. She participated in the 1969 Stonewall Riots, became involved in grassroots community organizing, and served with several HIV and AIDS assistance organizations. This Women's History Month, we honor her as a leader and mentor.

I'm almost ashamed that Miss Major is watching so much of her decades-long important work be erased with a few pen strokes. Our community deserves better and our elders deserve rest. Thank you Miss Major for your lifelong commitment to LGBTQIA+ equality.
