After public backlash and advocacy from @aclufl.bsky.social, Miami Beach will no longer punish a cinema for the films it shows. This is a win for free speech. The government does not get to dictate what perspectives can and cannot be heard.

The horror show we are now viewing and forcibly participating in is painful BUT - the researcher in me also notes how fascinating it is to see how quickly, how easily, how callously, a "government" "duly" elected can move a nation out of democracy and into the hellish landscape of authoritarianism.
