How do we stop Russia? Short of going to war with them. Maybe we should before we are no longer part of NATO. As much as I hate war, Russia does need to be stopped, Trump will hand over Ukraine to Putin.

Give Ukraine as much as we can in ammo, weapons, and vehicles. Go after Russian spies and assets wherever they are (but especially in the U.S.). Don't capture them. Put bodies in the ground.

Russian economy is about the size of Italy. Its economy is in shambles. The way to stop Russia is to bankrupt them. Massive funding for Ukraine. If we don’t, we will end up spending much more to defend against the Russian axis. Putin is an autocratic, murdering, fascist crook. He must be stoped!

It was headed to an airport in Russia that was closed at the time due to combat. They probably did shoot it down. It was probably a Horrible miscommunication. On the other hand Russia is saying that the Ursa ship was sunk due to terrorist activity on December 23. 🤷🏼This is getting very tense.

I think its more likely "Friendly Fire" than a specific target. Russia has a habit of unintentionally shooting down even their own fighters and bombers (unless of course Putin's chef is aboard a plane - then it's intentional ... VERY intentional)

Aren’t the current reports saying that it was a bird strike? They were able to divert and head to Kazakhstan rather than directly crash into the Caucasuses. I’m not seeing anything confirming a missile strike. At least from AP: apnews.com/article/azer...

I did some reading. So if you have a missile detonating the tail, it can take out the hydraulics while leaving the wing mounted engines unaffected. Which would explain the air weaving the pilot was doing before the crash. And that those holes on the tail aren’t consistent with other crashes.

I (believe at least) watched the video, and it seemed that both engines hadn’t been externally damaged; I would normally expect that from a missile. And couldn’t the shrapnel come from the chaotic landing? Not trying to defend Russia btw, not a fan lol. This just deviates from other reporting

Dear Sir, I am no lover of Vlad the Invader. However, the NYT reports that the plane hit a flock of birds. The article also noted the possibility that the aircraft may have had its GPS jammed (GPS spoofing), a method used to confuse drones.

there is very good footage that shows its clearly from air defense and that would be russian. the bird strike/oxygen explosion doesnt match with the holes. Hopefully since its in Kazakhstan the russians cant pillage the pieces and lie about it

Totally agree with you. I saw the footage and I've worked on the aircraft. The holes in the aft fuselage penetrated at right angles are perpendicular. Somebody else in this thread is mentioned and the skin was pushed. Inwards. Bird strike doesn't do that.

I saw many instant reactions on BlueSky suggesting it was "accidentally" shot down. However, the default hypothesis when Russia is involved in such a tragedy should be that it was a deliberate act until proven otherwise.

Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are probably non-plussed, but ABC says it could have been a bird strike. The thing is the Embraer aircraft used by the airline normally are not affected by bird ingestion. Pictures of the aircraft debris suggested bullet holes, but so far nothing's been said about that...
