In 1994, Ukraine agreed to give up its nuclear weapons with the guarantee that its sovereignty and territorial integrity would be protected by the US, UK, and Russia. Nobody has lived up to their obligations (except Ukraine).

What the heck does Putin think his endgame is, anyway. If he takes the country he'll then be wasting more Russian lives and equipment fighting an insurgency. One which has already proven itself about 100 years more technologically savvy than the Taliban.

Ukraine’s government also has an anti-corruption agency that monitors for, investigates, prosecutes corruption of elected officials and removes them as happened with Andriy Yermak who resigned quickly after being investigated. Ukraine practices anti-corruption. The United States is being run by it.
