Interesting to hear that they took on cars, since they're such a contentious tech, such a common example of "thoughtless adoption of seemingly empowering tech can be socially disempowering / destructive". Curious how the podcast deals with that – do they ignore, dismiss, or accept?

Since it was a discussion of social technology evolution (road traffic rules), the question of “and did society end up in a better place overall 100 years later?” wasn’t addressed.

Doesn't hurt that one of the hosts is Virginia Postrel, a personal hero of mine! She's the author of books that have deeply influenced my life and career: The Substance of Style, and The Future and Its Enemies.
