On Dec 1, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white passenger in Montgomery, AL. A veteran NAACP activist, she was arrested and fined. Her defiance sparked the 381-day bus boycott led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., forcing a SCOTUS ruling that ended bus segregation.🧵 #CivilRights

Rosa Park’s refusal to give up her seat on the bus led to a bus boycott that had people voting against segregation with their feet. So, it’s time for you to vote with a ballot. If you know things are wrong, vote to make them right. (Not right but correct. Lean left!)

After the boycott, death threats forced her to move to Detroit, where she spent decades working for US Rep. John Conyers and fighting for nationwide racial and economic justice. Rosa Parks died #OTD in 2005 & was the first woman in American history to lie in honor in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.
