I have a Woz Apple IIgs with a motherboard from 1988 (chip dates) but it has the IIe PSU and keyboard connectors installed. It also has what appears to be an OEM-like PSU fan installed onto a 1987 Week 01 IIgs PSU. Warranty replacement board perhaps? But why the IIe connectors?

Apple built a ton of motherboards with the keyboard/power connectors installed to be sold in upgrade kits. But the upgrade kit cost nearly as much as an entire IIGS so basically nobody bought them. Eventually all those boards were sent to the factory to be put into new IIGSes.

So the early IIGSes that came from the factory didn't have the connectors, but then a lot of the later ROM 01 machines (so '88 or early '89) did have the connectors, after Apple gave up on the upgrade program and used up that stock of boards before the factories switched to making ROM 3 machines.
