Why do fascists fear teachers? Because their greed, power and privilege cannot survive in a democracy of diverse, educated citizens. @rweingarten.bsky.social

Critical thinking is feared by dictatorships. Also, public schools are still public run by local school boards. Republicans love to privatize everything. If you think education is bad now, think how bibles shoved down throats and oaths to dear leader would be.

Fascist regimes recruited teachers, not purged them — NS-Lehrerbund enrolled 97% of German educators by '37. What they fear is *critical thinking* specifically, which is why autocrats gut civics while funding vocational STEM.

But here’s the issue. Who is doing the teaching and what is being taught? I come from a family of true “Educators”. As a parent I had to go into school and heavy involve myself in my child’s Social science calls as they were being taught falsehoods and bias against historical fact.

#30million8/30 Republicans are literally killing us in our streets. Project 2025 -- If we let them. If we do not assemble a massive march we will appear weak. 30 million marching on August 30th. You need to repost this. It requires all of us to participate. We are not weak and we are unafraid.

The right has been attacking, undermining, and defunding education for many decades--and for good reason. If everyone were well-educated, there would be no right-wingers.
