Every time I look into it, I’m more convinced that the combustion engine, especially for cars, is already obsolete. Now CATL announced ultra‑fast‑charging batteries with up to 1,000 km of range.

Electric cars are quieter, cleaner, more efficient, cheaper to maintain, have fewer components that wear out, offer more power, and use cheaper fuel -even free if you charge with solar panels. Once the range is there combustion will have no remaining advantage for most uses.

It still may be a problem because of the current lack of infrastructure and chargers though.

That's a blatant lie. Unless you mean "has the ability" which is very different from "provides the ability." I've gone on road trips with my wife in her EV and finding working chargers in NY state was enough of a pain that she switched to a hybrid when her lease ended (FWIW I wanted to keep the EV).

I am not from the USA but did you only look for the fast charging ones? Use apps to show privately owned chargers too? Here in Switzerland work hard to extend the public charging stations network among some companies offering the service on the highways.

Here in Switzerland it is harder with the homes as many life kb Apartments without a parking at or in the building. But most cities build out public charging stations.

Here in Spain is still quite lacking outside of main highways and cities. If you try to go to more sparse inhabited Spain, distances can become too high for current ranges and infrastructures.

Hmm yes that does make sense. I often forget how big other countries are compared to Switzerland. But range is a thing that people get used to know what they need Someone with a daily commute of 50km does not need and EV with 500km range. Sure that does depend on charging options at home or work.

That's true, but many people have this mindset of having one thing that can do it all, and somehow feel uncomfortable with something that "just" works perfectly fine for 95% of occasions, but lacks for the rest.
