Those who enjoy reading the specific wording of the Constitution in terms of provincial jurisdiction over resources might want to take a glance at sections 91(2) and 92A(2) and (3). Section 92A(3) is particular worth reading carefully.

“Under no circumstances will Alberta agree to cut off oil and gas exports,” AB Premier Smith said. “I don’t support tariffs on Canadian goods, and I don’t support tariffs on U.S. goods, because all it does is make life more expensive for everyday Canadians and everyday Americans”

Surely the Liberals learned their lesson from the NEP and won't make any attempt to use oil as any kind of pressure point. (Not that they have any support left to lose in Alberta.) Plus, even in a trade war, I think it would be extremely detrimental for us to cut off any energy supply to the USA.

Well if Donny wants a tariff, then the first best option would be for Canada to impose an export tax & tell Donny we fixed it. Then distribute the revenue from the tax to the affected companies. As long as exports remain at the same level

It's almost as if President Trump might have designs on the revenue associated with the tariffs? I'd say that your idea was too clever by half, but not sure that's really the best way to frame it.
