In an SEC filing yesterday, Verisign (NASDAQ: VRSN) disclosed the total cost of acquiring the .web top level domain: $171.4 million. Most of that was already known. In 2016, Nu Dot Co won an ICANN auction for the name for $135 million. In its Q3 2016 10-Q filing, it reported paying $145 million for the domain, suggesting it paid Nu Dot Co a $10 million premium to buy the asset.
