I understand you want this to be true but simply repeating the same silly proposal over and over again doesn’t make it true. “put mini datacenters in every apartment” is something so unbelievably stupid not even the dumbest x.com aibros are suggesting it.

And what do SFHs have to do with this conversation at all? Put the compute in the basement of an apartment, in a SFH, in a bungalow, whatever. Use the infrastructure humans are already inhabiting. Building a new datacenter will save single percentage points of power at the cost of hundreds of Ha's.

like you are literally just radicalized against the shape of a hyper scalar without any regard for any other enumeration of cause and effect. this is just total aesthetics.

like I’m telling you this as a homelab freak with like 5 different PCs doing god knows what around my house. this is stupid. this will not satiate demand.

easiest way to make housing impossibly expensive to build? Add a mini datacenter and a dozen H100s to the project. That’ll be great dude hell yeah.

there is no usable model currently able to be ran on a consumer desktop. a consumer desktop is a thing most people don’t have. genuinely the dumbest stuff here dude. bsky.app/profile/bush...

Again, ignoring that I originally said small models running on existing user hardware, but sure. Power utilities run distributed battery networks through suburbs and cities and colocated entire wind farms with consumers, and ISPs throw blackbox routers in ever home, but a desktop PC is a unrealistic
