It means they expect you to work for $0.

Anytime I heard management say, "We are not a business, we are a family", I would decline. Managers who want to motivate employees by dangling some sort of familiarity as a job benefit are naive and, often, inept. In any case, you are wise to see through that manipulation. Cheers!

I've always HATED the whole "we're a family" thing in the work place Not many people in the work force come from good"/decent" homes. Such a toxic work environment! Unless, maybe everyone's happy to escape their home lives for awhile... The whole concept has always made me want to 🤮 or hit someone
