At least three meanings: alignment with user intent, alignment with corporate PR safety, and alignment with principles that prevent AI taking over the world (doom). Most corps worry most about the second, Anthropic seem culturally obsessed with the third.

OpenAI seems more concerned with causing (minor) doom, as long as it can increase shareholder value. (E.g. through the very irresponsible disclosure of yesterday’s PHP CVE)
