A while ago I came to the conclusion that China was way more trustworthy with this technology because its government is more conservative, in the traditional sense, than America. More concern with control and more skepticism over giving free reign to private actors with reckless ambition.

I don't overall 'trust them', naturally. I just trust them more than the Whitehouse, Pentagon and companies like Palantir. I know the concern of the Chinese government is first and foremost control and I trust them to act in their own interests.

Is there a middle ground somewhere?

Like just an occasional AI-induced suicide?

I was thinking of something less Big Brother but for kids it seems that parents should know what’s going on. I had a decent relationship with my mom and when I was accosted by someone who tripped my squirrel radar I could come to her without any freaking out on her part.
