I have read that you can do it with one wavebird controller and four receivers, and now I'm considering if I want to spend the money to buy three of those recent aftermarket ones for this trick

Update, managed to do it by myself with four controllers. It was only mildly annoying!

You missed out on me wondering why it wasn’t working until I learned that the directional controls meant the dpad and not the c stick
