I don't know where things are headed (and btw nobody does, do yourself a favour and quit paying attention to anyone who speaks like they've seen the future) but the internet is changing rapidly, and not in a good way.

It's turning increasingly hostile towards humans who aren't willing to give out their entire personal data and subject themselves to opaque algorithms that decide for them what they get to see and hear. Meanwhile, bot/automated activity and content generation is clogging up everything else.
