You know when you're asking for advice or whatever from people and then they reply with "I asked ChatGPT and here's what it said" That's less than helpful! It's like horrendously wasteful on every single axis and also spectacularly literally thoughtless!

Do people actually say this to you in in-person life? or on social media? at work? (I'm not trying to be like "are you lying??" I've just never had this happen and I'm having trouble imagining when or how it happens.)

ftr nobody does it to me because they know what's good for them People do it to my wife *all the time* and I keep hearing about it from her

I suppose, now that I'm thinking about it some more, I have had people at work tell me, "Here's what Copilot says" when I ask them a specific technical question. And then they paste the screencap of the answer to a different question than the one I asked.

I see it on Reddit a lot. Someone asks for a specific movie or book they can't remember the name of and the replies are littered with "I asked ChatGPT and it said *insert title that either doesn't exist or doesn't fit at all*'
