I get almost no e-mails from the DNC because I unsubscribed from everything when they hit me up for money right after Harris lost, but fact that I get dozens of texts every day and I send "STOP" and "END" to all the ones that are obviously legitimate really shows how broken our system is.

CAN-SPAM is not well regarded in my circles but it's apparently vastly more effective than whatever we have regulating unsolicited SMS.

If I remember correctly, the minimal regulation we have for unsolicited SMS doesn’t cover political texts so there’s really no way to stop those damned fundraising texts. STOP or END seems to apply only to that specific phone #, not the candidate or PAC, so they can just send from another number
