Now that I feel a semblance of normal in the midst of my grief, it's time to return to the publishing hustle. Hi all, I'm acquiring SFF&horror for Solaris, now part of Profile! We're curating the best across the genres: commercial, punchy with a strong hook, to literary & strange. My sample list:

Fantasy 🐉 - standalone epic fantasy; e.g. quest-led, folkloric, myth/legend, magical creatures -mystery-led fantasy, e.g. The Tainted Cup -dark academia outside a US school setting -portal fantasy; secondary world, or a la Sara Rees Brennan - UK-set urban fantasy or historical -books, lost libraries

Scifi✨ - Space opera, galactic in scope, a la Memory Called Empire or Bethany Jacobs - climate fic, eg Saltcrop, Raine Wilson, EJ Swift - Robot scifi, in space or not - SF thriller; fateful journey back home, espionage, ticking clock

Horror😱 - historical horror, eg Isabel Canas or Buffalo Hunter Hunter - genre crossover, eg scifi horror - lost in space, came back wrong, monsters; urban fantasy horror - hauntings, possession - maybe the real monster was the trauma we confronted along the way
