These extreme weather events could deliver 2.5x more precipitation in a future where we make no efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The plot twist? Their impact is complex and contradictory. They can deliver both rainfall AND snow, depending on local conditions. 📸Michelle Maclennan

❄️ Fascinatingly, the dominant impact this century will be to bring more snowfall to the ice sheet, temporarily helping mitigate Antarctica's contribution to sea level rise. This isn't insignificant - Antarctica holds enough water to raise global sea levels by nearly 60 metres! 📸Michelle Maclennan
