Basic income for those in peril is essential when the vaunted system of employment isn't working. It should never be needed when we can have profit sharing, worker ownership, input into investment decisions.

Love those ideas, and we’d welcome all of them. But even the best workplace only helps people who are working. Caregivers, people with disabilities, folks between jobs, and anyone displaced by automation still need a floor. Basic income and fairer work go hand in hand.

That is the point. Those who cannot work need Basic Income. I'm totally aware of that, but before we default to statist solutions, first liberate those creating wealth to SHARE in it. Automation carries its own demise. No worker, no consumers.
