Weighing in to say that the most pro-player argument I’ve heard (and talked about on @tippingpitchespod.com, on which Jen has appeared many times) is that realistically the revenue can only go to the players or owners; who would you rather it go to? “Pay teachers more” is not an option

I truly need people to understand that not every MLB player is a multi-millionaire there are so many players making prorated league minimum and also labor is still labor. if you argue against labor, you're anti-labor.

Here’s how I square it: 1. I’d like the players to get a larger share from the owners. 2. I’m not happy that USA doesn’t tax both groups more.

Players make a LOT of money, for sure. $29K for a week in the majors on the league min is awesome! That is also part of why the PA’s framing is largely “getting our fair share as the labor that people tune into watch” rather than “the league minimum is only $780k”

If there's an extended owner-imposed lockout I would feel awful for fans, stadium workers, people in front offices, people like me working in the industry, etc, all of whom make less $. It's perfectly human and normal and empathetic to feel that way. But we're not a party in the negotiations!

The median player career lasts 3 years, most don't even make it to arbitration. That minimum salary over 3 years post-tax and fees is a pittance for an entire career's earnings. A missed year for that player is like missing 15 years of your career in relative terms. Players deserve far better
