Speaking of awful Gen Xers, Troy Martin, a self-proclaimed bike advocate, has fought tooth and nail to stonewall a vital bike lane on McDonald Ave, and has announced his intent to retain Hartley Bernstein to fight it, should it be approved by CB7 tonight. karmabrooklyn.blogspot.com/2026/10/prot...

The fact that two of the more prominent anti-bus lane/anti-safe streets people in our neighborhood are two white Gen X first-wave gentrifiers really says a lot.

And to the accusation that there's been insufficient community input, there have been literal years of public workshopping and input meetings. It's a complete lie. Here I am 14 months ago testifying in favor of the lane. The baby I'm holding can now walk and climb on things! youtu.be/Q5uaF5yE5Rs?...

Mr. Martin's accusation that DOT isn't considering the wider bike network with this lane is also bunk. The entire reason for building it is to fill a gap in the bike network, which when built, would finally connect 4th Ave and Ocean Parkway, connecting the East River Bridges to Coney Island.

To add, did you elect a mayor and a city government to install legally mandated bike lanes and achieve Vision Zero, or did you elect Troy Martin to slow that down in the courts and waste your tax dollars? Think of that next time someone complains about inadequate community input.
