#positronJapes I feel like @curiousmarc.bsky.social 😁 Agilent 16702A with two 16555D acquisition boards hooked up to the Positron 9000 which is currently looking for its floppy drive and failing, so I have a GPIB issue it seems. One transceiver chip is original so it may be bad.

Hahaha 😁 The 16702A mainframe is monstrous but the level of detail you can get out of them is amazing. Inverse Analysers decode on the fly so you can see the actual instructions and what they do to peripherals and ram/rom. TBF my little HP1660a could do this too, but only 4K samples compared to 2M.

It's beyond my current skill set & financial situation to get to that level, but doesn't mean I don't ever want to go down that rabbit hole one day! :D

It’s almost addictive. The 1660a I got for a song and it opened up what I could troubleshoot. It’s VERY time consuming and fussy, but when it shows you exactly what the DUT/machine is doing (or not), and you have schematics it can quickly point to the source of woe.
