Funny how the people of Virginia had to vote on whether to approve gerrymandering in favor of Democrats or not, did, and then gets denied by Republicans. Yet in Tennessee, there was no vote amongst the people, just their Senate, and it gets redrawn within a day. Democracy my ass.

BREAKING: In a loss for Democrats, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled the congressional map voters approved last month to counter GOP gerrymanders cannot go into effect. The decision overturns the will of voters for technical reasons and gives Republicans a leg up for the 2026 midterms.

Classic case of conservatives thinking they’re above the law bc they’re betting on the rest of us to be tied up by procedure that they willfully ignore. It’s why I had to leave my home state for good as a trans person. They upend their constituents lives all to continue the whims of a mad man

From what I've read VA justices are usually appointed by bipartisan compromise. My personal take is that the decision correctly reflects that gerrymandering is wrong (i think it should be illegal). The issue is that ruby red states dont care. But do 2 wrongs make a right?
