Every Ottawa politician who is contemplating a back-to-office plan should be sentenced to a week of commuting at least 10km to and from downtown during rush hour and then report back

Carney says back-to-office plan for federal civil servants coming soon nationalnewswatch.com/2025/12/08/c...

I get the advantages to working in an office downtown, but the capital of our great nation has not managed to provide or even facilitate a way of getting to such a place that is, and I am not even exaggerating for effect here, both faster and more reliable than *walking*

The icing on this cake is that Carney represents the riding of Nepean, where I grew up. When I was a teenager, there was an express bus that reliably took me from a block from home to downtown in half an hour. The same commute is over an hour now, and that's on a good day.

I used to take the 97 directly downtown (30-45 min) with an 8 minute walk down Kent. No way I would do the same today.
