The college equation has become unwieldingly complicated for most. When I went to Penn State, I could earn 60% to 70 % of my next years expense over summer. At other state colleges you could pay full costs with summer job. Now people cannot even figure out what it will cost. Like medical bills

Degrees are not worth the price anymore. But there are several reasons for this. College costs have gone up too much. Life debt because of college is a crime. There’s a surplus of people with degrees and not enough jobs. There’s a shortage of trade skilled workers for jobs that pay a living wage.

When I was young, a man could start a family on a good union job right out of high school. Many followed their fathers into the same factories. The destruction of unions began with GOP policies and continues today. That’s where young men need to focus their anger.

I think it’s not worth it unless you plan on having a career like a lawyer or doctor or nurse. Taking too much of a bet with heavy financial implications and little promise of a career outside the learning environment. Ask modern programmers. So many are driving uber right now. It’s insane.

This administration, starting w Trump’s first term, has manipulated young men into thinking they’re more entitled to everything, including women. They’ve vilified education. They’ve glorified greed. The damage to a whole generation and their values is despicable.

A gentleman is educated. Today’s hypermasculinity is anything but “traditional.” If they had an education, they’d know that Theodore Roosevelt said to “speak softly and carry a big stick”
