In one of the world’s most densely populated and mountainous countries, developers are running out of sites big enough to host major solar projects. Golf courses are some of the last tracts of open land available. bloom.bg/4iSzuaV 📷️: EDP S.A.

Absolutely insane characterization of an entire country. Take the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka and tell me there's no open country. I expect better from Bloomberg, this is hack work.

It's a propaganda piece for the company building solar, trying to convince others the sacrifice of their open spaces is appropriate. They're doing this because it's cheaper to take than give... Nevermind solar enhances agriculture by reducing evaporation for reservoir, vegies, grazing.

I get this is a ridiculous article but I’m cool with most golf courses being used for better things. Privileged costly sport for privileged people. Not great for the environment either.

What? After years of stories in which the countryside of aging Japan is inevitably emptying out and forests are reclaiming rice patches, they are now suddenly running out of land? Maybe a grid issue, but building out the grid connections is cheaper than running out of land.
