"... the scale of change and expectation placed on general practice is increasingly out of step with the investment and workforce needed to deliver it" The need to work (& invest) as a system is understood but, IMO, not recognised within most change programmes #NHS @nihrspcr.bsky.social

"Imagine what could be achieved if policy consistently invested in what the evidence shows works" And imagine that we evaluate each change appropriately Pilots need more than a few days or weeks Scaling up needs #Evidence #OutcomeBasedDecisions #EvidenceBasedMedicine

I’m glad continuity of care is emphasised. I’ve been fortunate- I’ve had long term GPs but dread retirement of my current one - who is old enough to retire (& not to rely on simplistic algorithms/pathways!)

Like many statistics, an increase in GP consultations does not necessarily mean better & faster diagnosis such that overall cost to NHS (or patient health) is more efficacious.

"General practice is delivering a record number of consultations" ... well maybe, but I hear of increased patient frustration that appt are telephone so GP has no view of how you look, smell, walk, move etc & where a GP is seen some use google & are failing to diagnose serious ailments for months.
