Call me a doomer but with 17 years of entrenchment and no corporate buyin iOS will never be fully interoperable. The DMA is great but it’s the sum of a bazillion little things that makes a product feel at home. Death by a thousand cuts.

I love my Mac + other Apple products but the last 5 years has felt like continuous death blows and bug after bug that won’t get fixed in 10 years (if ever). I just got the 15 Plus, but if it’s still suffering in 4-5 years I’ll probably have to jump ship for the cheaper & better options.

Yeah iOS has been stable at least and day to day so is macOS but it fails catastrophically sometimes, last week I had to reinstall because spell check, Siri and continuity were all utterly broken

Yeesh yeah, went through the same thing with Finder just straight up breaking and the app check failing for everything. Recently been hitting more bugs with iOS involving the default clock app… which has been super fun 🥲

Like the now playing widget has a separate icon for AirPods. Only Apple Maps is able to stay open when you lock your phone. HDR in HEIC is completely undocumented so every photo editing app fucks it up. The list goes on and on.

I do wonder about the interoperability request form. Why haven’t all these little cuts been fixed? Does it involve a lot of legalese so only big corps can afford it? Is the scope too small? Does Apple reject things overzealously? Surely if it was easy the indies would’ve requested everything by now
