I used a variety of drafting templates in high school, but I don't think I ever had my hands on a proper flowchart template. Flowcharting was kind of out-of-vogue when I was studying CS in uni.

Sadly I’m old enough for it to have been all the rage. I don’t use them often, but sometimes they’re a neat way of explaining small workflows.

I think I only knew how to read them back then because I saw them sometimes accompanying the source code in the computer magazines that I avidly consumed, as a child. (I was always doomed to go into Computer Science.)

I STILL flowchart my programs. IMHO, it is the only way to really define the program flow BEFORE you attempt architecture.

I had one for my A level (the coding part of which was all Turbo Pascal on an Amstrad PC 1512 😀).

Never got into Pascal, nor Modula 2. Started out with Digital Research CBasic at work, while programming C for fun. Then it was ADABAS NATURAL on IBM Mainframe, then CICS COBOL, REXX. Client/server then came along, so went with Gupta/SQLWindows/Centura, and C for DLL's and some apps...
