Nobody does anything because nobody wants to be the first to do anything

It’s because nobody cares. Our absence wouldn’t make a dent in the world order. It wouldn’t affect ordinary Americans at all and hasn’t affected them, so they don’t care. The Nazis operated over a thousand death camps with essentially no push-back from the German people. Americans won’t ever care.

People do care, and they always will, why else do we have the rights those in power are trying to take away?. Recent events have just made the "we don't care" minority deafeningly loud. Once things change, and they will, things will (for the most part) go back to normal. I foresee happiness and joy.
