The best news I've had in a week: "There is an unchanged 0.4 cm enhancing nodule in the fundus of the left internal auditory canal." My hearing in my left ear has been fading for many years but in early 2025, I had it formally checked to see what's up. We found a small tumour on the auditory nerve.

This is not rare: 1 in 100,000 50+ yo men develop something like this. Not cancerous, but potentially problematic. Removal requires surgery or radiation, both with their own risks, and neither would restore lost hearing. But the tumour isn't growing, so no intervention is needed!

I had an in-office test with a set when I had my initial diagnosis, and it was a revelation. I'm looking forward to this, although I may punt the purchase to 2027 for cash flow reasons.
