One of the (many) reasons AI is upsetting: it makes imagining the future very difficult. It generatively generates uncertainty. The one thing that has remained certain regardless of technological innovation for 500+ years is that time spent crafting books for children will never be time wasted.

oof this is really the best way to describe it. I get depressed alot but i never imagined the future being worse then it is now. I always thought people that did were pessimistic. I always figured progress could be slowed but not stopped. I still feel that way but AI is really slowing it.
