While he doesn't work in gaming, a friend of mine will spend 20+ hours a week in meetings, and then scramble to get the technical work done. Apparently everyone at his bank "has to be on the same page."

not to mention it's common to have just insane amounts of avoidable waste. i've worked at places so dysfunctional that nobody could work more than the equivalent of 8 hours a week, and everyone just sat around and did nothing and soaked up the pay because it was all you could do
