Time for an announcement here, I suppose! Last week I wrapped up 6 years at @github.com—a role I look back at with immense gratitude, given the people I worked with and how much I grew as an engineering leader with their help.

I'm taking a short break, but starting to book intro conversations towards my next role; you can find more about my background and goals at www.linkedin.com/in/wbruce/ — feel free to DM me here, too.

I'm open to working with teams on many stacks, but if your company uses #ElixirLang or #RubyLang, I'm especially interested in speaking to you; as an early adopter (10 & 20+ years of experience) who's built companies, given talks and workshops, and written books about each—they're home territory.

I also have a strong interest in teams using #RustLang (in NIFs and as a primary language); I had the amazing fortune to manage the absolutely phenomenal code search team at GitHub, so I've seen what it can do at a frightening scale in the right hands. (I do love a good type system, too.)

My views on AI are nuanced; I'd consider myself neither an accelerationist or skeptic, point-blank. My work at GitHub made me both interested in and wary of its pragmatic and ethical considerations, and I have hard-won experience to help you evaluate when/where to use it in your SDLC & products.
