OAI spent the equivalent of ~$20m just on their N-S math paper, just on tokens; not counting wasted effort on other math problems, payroll for the people running this project, etc. How much do we think they're spending to get these cibersecurity results?

This is a real claim that is being made, that asking "find vulnerabilities in PHP" into a prompt and letting a frontier model work found the exploit independently. If that's the case, again, how are you reading this? How has the datakrash not happened already? www.linkedin.com/feed/update/...
To be clear, PHP knew about the problem in 2024, they just weren’t able to find an actual exploit for it and didn’t fix it: thephp.foundation/blog/2026/10... As to your question: dunno? It’s very very hard to split out hype vs reality in some of these things.
One of the big things they get from the technology is that they didn't need to convince $X-million worth of expert workers to put aside ethics. pluralistic.net/2026/10/06/n...
