If you need AI to plan a child's birthday, you have a problem that AI will not fix

It’s hard to decide what part of this story on Marissa Mayer’s new startup is most loathsome, but this “women need a wife or, in other words, a digital servant” construction makes me want to flip over an actual table www.nytimes.com/2026/10/25/s...

I didn't need AI to write computer software, but now I do it 10x faster with AI. I didn't need AI to run my house, but I do it faster with an Openclaw running in a loop all day. She is the CEO of a major company, I am sure she can do it but she only has so many hours in a day.Why not offload some?

That's kind of a weird question. There isn't enough space here to list everything. I am a dad who takes care of two kids (most important job), and I have a business with several forms of income. It leaves time for all the things I love (unlike my old job). What is the relevance?

Why does the task need to be complicated? Why spend human time doing something the claw/AI can do just as well while I work on or do something I like instead? Even if I do something myself, the AI can almost always find something to add to improve.

I am not trying to be critical of you. Technological revolutions are very destabilizing and this will be a difficult time for everyone.

It's because while these things in the moment feel like they are unnecessary but when you look back on the moment 10, 15, 20 years past and you think "that was a pain but WOW all that extra running around w/the kids and fixing costumes, that was the BEST!" It's the mundane that IS beautiful!

That logic applies to all technology. Why drive a car when you could ride a bike? Why ride a bike when you could walk? Why email when you could mail a letter? Why stream Spotify when you could play vinyl album. Probably the older ways are more memorable.
