As a person who has made art their entire life, I get an immense satisfaction from creating a good piece of art. It’s really hard and grueling sometimes, but so so so satisfying. When I tell AI to make a piece of art, my reaction is “okay”, and feel as whatever as I did before.

Yeah, I do both and my actual art is way more specific and has more meaning. Ai is just there to play with concepts, happy weird image synthesis accidents, and calling things into existence in a somewhat photorealistic way.

The only way to replicate that creation feeling with AI is if you have a hand in the actual algorithm itself, and even then, the only thing satisfying in that regard is crafting the code, not its products. Telling the computer "do it" robs you of that human feeling, because YOU didn't do it.

art is just as much, if not more, the process as the result. when you remove the process, you just don't have much left. that's why i think it's wrong to call something ai-generated "art." the word carries that connotation. it makes me very sad how many people don't know the difference

I don't even know if you could call AI art "art", because art is much more a process than it is a finished piece. I do like it when the finished piece is good, but a destination is only as good as the journey
