I've got a comment on this requesting a license, and I feel I'm a bit out of my depth here regarding font licensing. Does anyone have any good resources for existing licenses or any recommendations for writing my own? Basically, I don't care what it's used for if you buy it, just don't redistribute!

Alright, my pixel art gothic font Decree is now out! I spent quite a bit of time refining it today and I think I'm happy with it! The funds from this font will go directly to the development of Godscrown! Can't afford the $2? Feel free to reach out! #pixelart #gamedev #font #art

But I personally use my own license for my fonts. I spent tens of hours on it. This license is very lightweight, transparent, indie friendly, but also protects my fonts from using them with AI, NFT, redistribution etc. Feel free to took inspiration: wqon.link/eula/

Yeah I was digging into OFL, bit too permissive for me but well done for sure. I think yours is very much what I'm going for! I'll have to give it a good read over! Also dig the site! Can't remember the last time I've seen a site actually do something with the cursor I love it.

I'm glad my EULA is what you're looking for. And I'm also glad you like my little page, thank you.

I know @ronniethezombie.bsky.social had a similar thing with an asset pack with similar licensing to what you're dealing with, I believe ended up going with a custom license when someone was asking them for licensing specifics... I wish a license existing to the level of CC0 that prevented resale

There are some MIT licenses that exist but they aren't accepted world wide. Best bet is to write your own. You can find templates if you cant have a professional write one for you but just be careful. I was lucky to have someone with experience in it write mine.

ooo yeah MIT is what I'm most familiar with but it's a little too permissive. For the most part though I suppose I'm really just hoping to clarify things for users who care about it I'm probably not gonna hunt down people who don't go by the rules anyway, I suppose writing my own won't be too bad

No idea on the license front but I just grabbed this because I have a few uses for it. Thanks for making it available. I will watch for license info if you end up sorting that.

Ah thanks! I'll figure something out eventually, it'll likely be pretty basic and as straightforward as I can manage
