I both believe as a political movement we need to better live our values of reform-over-punishment (see adrienne maree brown’s We Will Not Cancel Us!) and that repeating stuff like this and “middle America has been left behind” just makes these people expect to get their way with everything forever

And look: “We need to be more understanding of young men and rural America” will never beat the political message, “You are the center of the universe and the other side wants to destroy you, so vote for me and we will destroy them instead”
