How do folks really feel about starter packs? I made one to be helpful, but now I’m seeing it’s just another way for the “writing community” to continue being cliquey and exclusive (Twitter Circles vibes). I don’t want to give off that impression…

I think they can be useful, especially for people like myself who only recently created an account here and are still in the process of rebuilding a community. And, even if cliques develop, that won’t change your original intent & the fact that you’re worrying about that is proof of that.

I think they're great - especially for an aspiring author such as myself. I don't give a damn about social hierarchies, I just wanna follow cool people. (An occasional follow-back would be nice, though.) 😉

I appreciate them because I can mass follow <people who discuss topic> en masse, and then weed down anyone who I decide I don't want to hear from if it gets that way. But I also figure that they aren't the end all be all, just a nice... starter.

It comes from good intention but this place has grown so quickly the ones you know tend to show up anyway and you meet new ones as a matter of course. It’s not lie we’re not like wandering a refugee camp desperate for familiar faces. Oooooof. At least not yet or actually.
