"In 2001, the Minnesota Legislature decided to exempt cabin owners from some local school property taxes. Ever since, money that used to stay in our district has gone to the state instead, becoming another way to pay for state programs." www.parkrapidsenterprise.com/opinion/an-u...

parkrapidsenterprise.comAn unprecedented opportunity for Park Rapids Area SchoolsSuperintendent says school district voters have an opportunity to divert already-levied tax revenue to supporting local education.

Your ballot may have a referendum for the new Seasonal Recreation Property Tax Base Replacement Aid (STBRA) program this election. This aid program was created to help replace the lost property tax revenue that has left the local school districts since 2001 without increasing your property taxes.

If you vote yes on this referendum, you will be voting to help your schools take advantage of a new source of revenue to be used to increase the quality of local students’ education.
