Periodically, our University staff (professional and academic) renegotiates with management our Enterprise Agreement, a key document which lays out work conditions for the next years. Bargaining is currently at an impasse: this is why I'll be, along with my fellow uni staff, on strike tomorrow.

Sticking points include, among others, (1) evidence-based academic and professional staff workloads, (2) wages tracking with inflation, (3) disability and chronic health conditions, (4) clear commitment from the uni regarding how workload may be impacted by GenAI... etc. Join us at the picket line!

We don't go on strike "for fun." This is a disruption, yes: for students, colleagues, and us. I'm taking a day of unpaid leave which I'll spend at a picket line to discuss with passers-by why it matters, and why we do it for the University and our students. Join us @nteunion.bsky.social! #USyd
