Technology didn’t use to promise “entirely new and interesting behaviors for researchers to discover”. The Hugging Face incident was very interesting, for example. Mass phone scams will be very interesting as well. What other interesting things will the machines do?

It's wild to think about how technology can lead to both breakthroughs and unexpected chaos. The Hugging Face incident was a real eye-opener! I wonder what new dilemmas or surprises are just around the corner.

What other things will those guys do? KI can serve humans and humanity. It can help healing cancer and other deseases, can help understanding climate change and biodiversity, help building resilient cities, infrastructure and communities and much more. It can help mostly by specialized software.

Those guys have other goals. They want to build a thing that likes humans, or in their eyes even better. They want to be god. That will serve their own ego's, nobody else. Before they will fall, as every hybris does, they will destroy much, with consequences in everybody's life.

I wish there would be more humility seeing how humans grow and learn, how humans live together and build communities, how humans communicate and serve each other, how humans love. I see this humility widely forgotten in decades of technological feasibility.

Perhaps the direct experience of children's growing and learning is protecting against that technological hybris. It is so much more than feeding talk in and taking the output. With families getting out of the center of society, that seems to be forgotten either.
