Advertising often has the opposite effect on me. If a brand pays to put 3 different ad embeds on my screen, my immediate thought is, "Why are they spending so much of their budget on brand recognition, rather than to actually help the consumer? Must not be a good deal."

Not to mention, the disappointing lack of local businesses in advertisement. Why do monopolies get all the ads? They don't need it! In the US, there's so much insurance, medicine, cars... All incredibly corrupt systems that often favor profit over consumer value.

We're meant to walk and bike, have a doctor prescribe you a no-brand-name medicine. I'm not gonna beef with insurance as a concept, but it oughtta be way more government-assisted.
